With anticipation for the redesigned Audi R8 reaching a fever pitch, the Volkswagen-owned carmaker has come up with an interim model called the 2012 R8 Exclusive Edition.

The limited production run will include 20 examples of a V8 version available in matte grey and 30 examples of a V10 available in Ibis white. The 4.2 liter V8 racks up 430 hp while the 5.2 liter V10 serves up the equivalent of 525 horses. Both will come with the option of an R-tronic automatic or dual-clutch transmission.
The interior features Alabaster White contrast stitching, as well as a carbon fiber monoposto driver’s cockpit. Outside, 19 inch bicolored and double-spoked e-tron wheels sit beneath standard R8 GT taillights. An updated carbon fiber splitter and rear diffuser push the car closer to the road, enhancing its aerodynamics as well as making it look super-cool. Audi’s signature Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension system adjusts to road conditions by sending electromagnetic fields through the fluid-based shock absorbers.
The special edition Audis will only be sold in the United States where historic demand for other Audi R8 models, like the 14.9 mpg Spyder convertible, is seemingly limitless.
