The Koenigsegg Agera R looks more like a new age archenemy of the Autobots than it does a world supercar. Its respect stems from a laundry list of stats that any coach would appreciate in his top player. Shown to international journalists, businessmen and auto executives at a special viewing, the rear-wheel-drive performance car was an attractive highlight to all who laid sight on it.
A special partnership with Michelin lends the niche auto manufacturer a bit of experience in the record-breaking category. Its rear 345/30/20 Supersports put enough grip to the pavement for the Agera R to achieve a 0 to 62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds. Not as fast as a Bugatti Veyron and its specially fitted Michelins, but still pretty extreme in terms of acceleration. Featuring the world’s first carbon fiber one-piece hollow rim, the only metal you will find on the Koenigsegg Carbon Aircore wheel package is actually the valve stem. Power is sourced from a 5-liter V8, which puts out a whopping 1140 horsepower. The aluminum engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch, paddle shift transmission.
The two-door body of the hyperactive Agera R is a combination of carbon fiber and kevlar and features a removable hardtop that stows under the front hood lid. Yet in still, the Agera R can outrun rain any day. And don’t worry about high-speed safety—all Koenigsegg vehicles feature KES (Koenigsegg Electronic Stability). Additional highlights include a 0 to 200 mph time of 17.68 seconds and only 7.28 seconds to stop completely from 200 mph. Additionally, an unverified top speed has been labeled at 273 mph. Now imagine that.
With each vehicle made-to-order, there is no worry that two owners will end up with identical Koenigseggs. The coveted Agera R is ready to be driven. What are you waiting for?
