When supercars are mentioned, Slovenia isn’t exactly the first place that comes to mind. However, the engineers at Slovenia’s Tushek car-maker claim that with their latest design, the Renovatio T500 supercar can go from zero to sixty mph in 3.7 seconds. That alone, paired with the ultra-cool scissor door design, will be enough to safely say that Slovenia will very soon be earning a decent reputation as a manufacturer of exotic luxury sports cars.
One must note, on the other hand, that although the T500 is a powerful looking car, Tushek has followed what some call a watered-down recipe to craft a supercar; while the car can perform well, it isn’t anything truly out of the ordinary. For example, the car has a light body weight due to its tubular chassis and carbon-fiber/composite body. The engine isn’t exactly powerful, being a 4.2 litre Audi V-8 with a 450 horsepower output. It’s a bit small in comparison with competing exotic cars.
But one must also think of what makes the Renovatio T500 so unique; it is a hard-top convertible and not a coupé, bucking the industry standard of first unveiling a coupé then releasing a convertible a few months later.
Critics claim that other than the über-cool scissor doors, the car itself is a little bit plain, resembling a Camaro from the front. Although the critics didn’t like the front, what they did like was the supercar’s interior which is unlike the Spartan interiors of most exotic cars. The interior features suede, air conditioning, and a blue-tooth equipped audio system.
Aljosa Tushek, race car driver and company founder, said on his website: “As a race driver I have long dreamed that I would be able to drive a road car that provided the response, the turn in, traction and tactility that we expect from a race car but that could be usable every day. Our car is full of emotions and emotion enhancing technology, much of it focused around lightness creating one of the best handling, lightest and fastest supercars on the circuit with uniquely good looks for the road.”
The starting price for the Renovatio T500 is $370,000.
